Bicatop Cow is a fast-acting bolus with sodium bicarbonate designed to reduce the risk of acidosis.
Cow acidosis
Acidosis in cows leads to loss of appetite and lower milk production. In this case, it is important for cows to have energy intake as insufficient intake cuts the development of rumen papillae which enhances acidosis. Cows starting milk production have a higher risk of developing acidosis as the ruman papilae did not yet grow adapting to the increasing feed intake. Bicatop Cow contains sodium bicarbonate. This increases the pH of the rumen and the blood, buffers the acidification and restores the appetite. And in this way we want to change farming into Stressless Farming.
INSTANT RELEASE OF SODIUM BICARBONATE
REDUCES THE RISK OF ACIDOSIS
DECREASES RECOVERY TIME
RESTORES APPETITE
Indirect indicators of ruminal acidosis
- Decline in PEN FEED CONSUMPTION of more than 10% for two or more consecutive days, causing a weight loss.
- If more than 15% of a herd is SCOURING, investigate further; acidosis is one of several possible causes.
- MILK FAT <3.6% for Holstein or 5% for Jersey herds can indicate a risk of acidosis.
- Where fewer than 50% of cattle are identified with CHEWING ACTIVITY, the potential for sub-optimal ruminal pH and rumen function should be considered.

Benefits
REDUCES PRODUCTION LOSS
HEALTHIER ANIMALS
INCREASED REVENUE
When to use
- Give 1 bolus to the cow at the first signs of acidosis.
- Repeat one day later if signs of acidosis are still present.
- Especially for high yielding cows and intensively fed ruminants.
Why a bolus?
- Easy to use
- Cow absorbs all the nutrients she needs
- Each cow gets the right dose
- No need to give daily supplements
- No need to calculate supplementary feed
- You don’t have to rely on the cow’s appetite
- Easy storage and transportation
- No spilling
