COMPONENTS

DODEKS Solution for Injection is a sterile, red, clear solution and contains hydroxycobalamin chloride equivalent to 2 mg hydroxycobalamin (Vitamin B₁₂) as the active ingredient in each ml and 10 mg benzyl alcohol for antimicrobial preservative purposes. The active ingredient contains 10% exex dose.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

DODEKS Solution for Injection contains hydroxycobalamin, which has vitamin B₁₂ activity. Vitamin B₁₂ plays a role as a coenzyme in various metabolic functions, such as carbohydrate and fat metabolism and protein synthesis. It also plays a role in blood formation and development in all domestic animals. Methionine is an essential vitamin for growth, cell proliferation, hematopoiesis, nucleoprotein and myelin synthesis, due to its effects on folic acid and malonic acid metabolisms. It is also necessary in the conversion of ribonucleic acid (RNA) to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). It is one of the basic substances required for cell division. In healthy ruminants, vitamin B₁₂ does not need to be given externally. In cobalt deficiency, vitamin B₁₂ synthesis stops. At the same time, vitamin B₁₂ synthesis is disrupted in various disorders of the rumen. In case of vitamin B₁₂ deficiency, development stops in all animals, sensitivity increases, hair becomes swollen and dermatitis begins. The voice disappears and coordination of movements occurs. Pain develops in the joints, and mild or moderate monocytic anemia occurs. Irregularities due to vitamin B₁₂ deficiency in the digestive system are; It is observed as loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea. The synthesis of vitamin B₁₂, like all B vitamins, slows down or stops in cases where the rumen microflora balance is disrupted, in all kinds of food-borne indigestions such as rumen acidosis and alkalosis, and in gastrointestinal infections. Additionally, absorption is inhibited. Vitamin B₁₂ is absorbed from the lower parts of the ileum (except in cases of malabsorption). It is largely bound to plasma proteins. 90% of it accumulates in the liver and a small amount in the kidneys. Excretion occurs through bile. Amounts exceeding the daily requirement are excreted unchanged in the urine.

AREA OF USE/ INDICATIONS

DODEKS Solution for Injection is used as a supplement to the main treatment in cases where absorption is hindered such as rumen acidosis and alkalosis, and in anemias caused by internal parasites and blood parasites such as anaplasmosis, piroplasmosis, thyrleriosis, especially hyperchromic and monocytic anemia, in accelerating development in young animals, in dermatitis due to vitamin B₁₂ deficiency, It is indicated in cases of loss of appetite and fatigue. It is also used together with vitamins B₁ and B₆ in disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system caused by various reasons (infectious, toxic, traumatic, metabolic deficiencies, etc.).
