Negative energy balance
A negative energy balance (NEB) occurs especially in early lactation, because after calving the cow begins to produce large amounts of milk that demands more energy than she can produce. Monitoring the herd for indicators of NEB is important, as a prolonged NEB can lead to many problems such as ketosis, metritis and mastitis. Enertop is a bolus that dissolves in 5 – 6 hours and contains sodium propionate to provide the cow with the necessary energy. And in this way we want to change farming into Stressless Farming.

Indicators of a negative energy balance
- More than 15% of early lactation cows with MILK PROTEIN<3.05%
- More than 15% of cows with a milk FAT PROTEIN RATIO>1.4
- More than 25% of cows with >0.5 units of BODY CONDITION SCORE (BCS) loss in early lactation.
- In severe cases, cows may have a LETHARGIC LOOK. These cows will most likely to be off feed and lose excessive BCS in a short amount of time.
